Best of 2010 .::. 100 TRACKS | #02. Infinity Guitars - Sleigh Bells

The beat is so sick. Half way through this song, my heart is so pumped it feels like I’m going to burst into a fountain of blood. Is that a good endorsement? How about “Best reason to get Rayban glasses?”

Best of 2010 .::. 100 TRACKS | #01. Lovesick - Lindstrøm & Christabelle

I wrote this back in April: “Lovesick is sleazy, sexy, and easily the most memorable of the bunch, and probably my favourite song of 2010 thus far.” What do you know, it still is.

And now, the miscellany.

Best of 2010 .::. 25 albums | #05. Treats - Sleigh Bells (Song: Kids)

Sleigh Bells is the most exciting band to debut since The Xx. Their music is also similarly elegantly simple in execution, while being catchy as hell. Whereas The Xx massages the orgasmic part of the brain that gets hyped up for sensual stuff, Sleigh Bells assaults like a squad of musical cheerleaders cum ninjas on speed, with impressive consistency. There’s also a giddiness about them that’s quite infectious and probably hard to replicate. It’d be interesting to see how they can go from here, as any distinct sound such as theirs is prone to the fatigue effect. I just hope they stay good enough and long enough so I can get to experience Infinity Guitars live in concert some time before I die.

Infinity guitars - Sleigh Bells

The video is as fierce as the song. I don’t care how popular those Rayban New Wayfarer sunglasses are with the hipsters, I still love them. With the bangs and them glasses, Alexis Krauss and I are basically the same. Except we’re not and I’m way too broke to be burning guitars and hiring cheerleaders. Reality sucks.

Infinity Guitars - Sleigh Bells

Peeps, behold the first serious contender for the top album of the year spot, Sleigh Bells’ Treats (released May 11 but can be heard streamed on NPR). They are going to walk away with the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Cake, if people who make cakes care about experimental/noise pop. They should. They should shake and  bake to the sound of Sleigh Bells’. Everything should shake to the sound of Sleigh Bells, including trees. Human trees.

If you know what I mean.
