07. Hang with me (Robyn/Paola Bruna cover) by JOYWAVE
Gave me the chills, literally. Not the “my tongue is burning up” feverish kind, but the “this is a-ma-ZING!@!” kind. I’m sorry Robyn, but Joywave did it better. Did you know that they used Robyn’s voice as an instrument on this track? I didn’t either. But the internet says so, it must be true. Did you also know that the song wasn’t even first recorded by Robyn and therefore can not be a Robyn’s cover? I didn’t either. But lookee here: Paola Bruna did it first (Note to website linked: I hate your black background with a passion)! The things you learn when you click on links.
The cover appears to float somewhere on youtube, and the original appeared on Robyn’s Body Talk (Pt. 1 & 2, 2010) and Paola Bruna’s Stockcity girl (2003).

11. You look so fine - Garbage (Version 2.0, 1998)
Shirley Manson can do pretty and vulnerable, as well as cool and beastly, seemingly without effort. She doesn’t stretch herself as much vocally as some other folks on this list. That’s probably reflective of her modest persona, which isn’t something you’d associate with a rocker. But she still has hands-down one of the most distinct and sultry voices in music, ever, and that’s no small feat.
{My 50 ALL-TIME FAVOURITE FEMALE VOCALISTS list continues (tagged Female Vocalists)! The criteria are simple: they are female of the species, I love their voice, and they have attempted to sing in English at one point in their career. The present list is focused mostly on the quality/uniqueness of their tone (voice box), and their ability to emote the hell out of the songs.}

Cardiac arrest (feat. Robyn) - Teddybears (Devil’s music, 2010; Single on itune)
Swedish electropop powerhouses unite! Teddybears’ Devil’s Music was released in 2010, but it’s a new game now that Robyn is featured on the newly remixed track. I’ve been listening to Robyn’s album from last year (Body talk) on repeat. It’s nigh time there’s something new from her so I don’t go crazy.

Dancing on my own - Robyn (Body Talk Pt. 1)
Don’t worry baby, if you keep making music like this, I’ll dance with you all night. I’ll even carry your shoes if you’d like.
(Fred Falke Remix is tres awesomesauce too)

Lemonade - CocoRosie (Website)
This track is off one of my favourite albums of the year, Grey Oceans. Listen, can you see it? Lemon drops, apple blossoms, morning dew hidden inside calla lilies, girl’s panties peeking from underneath her billowing skirt as she rides a very small pony by a tool shed with broken windows, in the eye of a wild storm.
