20. History repeating - Shirley Bassey

My 50 ALL-TIME FAVOURITE FEMALE VOCALISTS list continues (tagged Female Vocalists)! The criteria are simple: they are female of the species, I love their voice, and they have attempted to sing in English at one point in their career. The present list is focused mostly on the quality/uniqueness of their tone (voice box), and their ability to emote the hell out of the songs.

And now, it’s time for the top 20. We’re going fiercely serious.

At #20 is Shirley Bassey, the Welsh singer who’s forever associated with the Bond franchise to me, with her minxy, commanding voice that’s made for big bands and world domination. She’s been famous since the 50s, and still kicking around today with the likes of Elton John and Lady Gaga. SIX decades, man. That career got some legs.
